Calderina Watchtower

Historic sites

Torre Calderina is one of the coastal towers built in the 16th century along the Apulian coast to defend the territory against pirate attacks and Turkish enemies arriving by sea.

Located between Molfetta and Bisceglie, the tower stands majestically along the shoreline, with a truncated pyramidal stone structure that offers a spectacular view over the sea.

Torre Calderina is a well-preserved example of Renaissance military architecture, and its strategic position made it an important defensive point in the past.

Torre Calderina was part of the complex system of watchtowers of the Kingdom of Naples.

Today, the tower is located within a protected area for migratory birdlife, easily reachable via coastal trails, and offers a fascinating combination of history and nature. Visitors can explore its surroundings, enjoying the tranquillity of the maritime landscape and the breathtaking views over the Adriatic.
