Gavetone Watchtower
Historic sitesTorre Gavetone is one of the historic coastal towers situated along the coast between Molfetta and Giovinazzo.
Built in the 16th century as part of the coastal defence system against pirate raids, particularly those of Ottoman corsairs. The tower is an excellently preserved example of Renaissance military architecture, characterised by a cylindrical structure and thick walls. Its strategic position offers a panoramic view over the Adriatic Sea, making it an ideal lookout point.
Today, Torre Gavetone is an important historic site that attracts tourists and history enthusiasts, offering an interesting perspective on the region's maritime past. The tower is accessible via hiking trails along the coast, making it an ideal spot for scenic walks and picnics.
